Privacy Policy

ChipDB.com has adopted information management guidelines that define our customer and advertiser relationships.&  These guidelines disclose the privacy policies for ChipDB.com.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

Since Internet technologies are rapidly evolving, underlying business models are evolving.  Accordingly, guidelines may change.  Any changes will be posted here.

Information We Collect About You

Registration: When you register to receive ChipDB.com services, ChipDB.com requires that you supply your full name, e-mail address, and contact information.  Customers must also agree to the Terms and Conditions of Use applicable to the service for which they are registering.

Anonymous Information: ChipDB.com may also gather anonymous information, which may be used by ChipDB.com or shared with third parties.  This information does not personally identify you but may be helpful for improving the services we offer.  Generally this information is collected through "traffic data" and may entail the use of "cookies," "IP addresses," or other numeric codes used to identify a computer.

Cookies: "Cookies" are small text files containing a randomly generated ID, which are stored on the hard drive of a user's computer.  ChipDB.com employs cookies to recognize you and your access privileges for certain locations on the ChipDB.com sites, such as the Administration Area, as well as to track site usage.  Subscribers who do not accept cookies from the ChipDB.com sites cannot access many areas of ChipDB.com's Web site.

IP Addresses: ChipDB.com also logs IP addresses for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes.  (Your IP address indicates the location of your computer on the Internet.) We do not log IP addresses to track your session, nor do we link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable.

Usage of the Information Collected

Statistical Analysis and Banner Advertising: ChipDB.com may perform statistical analyses of user behavior in order to measure interest in the various areas of our site (for product development purposes) and to inform advertisers as to how many consumers have seen or "clicked" their advertising banners.  ChipDB.com also uses demographic information to allow advertising banners on our Web site to be targeted to the readers for whom they are most pertinent.  This means that readers see advertising that is most likely to interest them, and advertisers send their messages to people who are most likely to be receptive, improving both the user's experience and the effectiveness of the ads.  In this statistical analyses and banner advertisement targeting, we will disclose information to third parties only in aggregate form.

Data Security: To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have implemented appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to protect the information we collect online, including SSL security for credit card submissions.  Detailed information about SSL is available from Netscape.

Account Maintenance: ChipDB.com may utilize the contact information you provided at registration, such as your telephone number and e-mail address, to contact you regarding account status, changes to the subscriber agreement, and to confirm registration.

Service Updates and Promotions: Using the contact information and e-mail addresses provided at registration, ChipDB.com periodically sends promotional messages to its users about services offered by ChipDB.com and notifies users of new features or changes that may be made to these services.  If you prefer not to receive promotional e-mails about ChipDB.com and it's services, please see the "Opting Out" provision below.

Organizational Changes: Should ChipDB.com undergo a sales, merger, consolidation, change in control, transfer of substantial assets, reorganization or liquidation, ChipDB.com's accumulated customer information will be treated as an asset and, like other business assets, be subject to transfer to or acquisition by a third party.

Customer Requests for Personal Information: Upon your request, ChipDB.com will provide you with its record of the personal information you gave us at registration.  For security reasons, this information will only be sent to the e-mail address on file for the subscriber ID associated with it.
